Vital Records

Vital Records can be obtained at the Town Clerk's Office during window hours and Online.

To request a copy of a birth, marriage, or death certificate provide

  • a current photo ID such as a driver's license
  • complete a form provided at the office or online

Marriage License Application

Marriage license applications can be obtained at the clerk's office during window hours. Please note this does not include a copy of the completed marriage license. 

  • Please note that both marriage partners need to be present.
  • Both parties need to provide current photo ID.
  • Both parties will need to know the full names and birth places of both parents.
  • Decided upon any name change option available.
  • If you are not using a NH Justice of the Peace or a NH ordained clergyman, please refer to the link here providing information about obtaining special licenses for your wedding. Read carefully as each application has specific restrictions. Plan ahead - these licenses must be obtained before the service and in most cases lasts 90 days.

After Vital Records has received and recorded officiant information, copies of the marriage certificate can be ordered.

  • Order online payment system under Vital Records here.
  • Visit our window during office hours in person with a current ID and fill out request form.
  • Current cost for initial copy is $15 and subsequent copies order at the same time are $10.
    • Please note, if ordered online a mailing fee of $1.00 is added to the transaction and depending upon payment type additional fees apply.

Marriage & Name Change

Either person may

  • retain their surname prior to marriage
  • take the surname of the other party, or
  • hyphenate the surnames of both parties.
  • A person who takes the other party's surname also may change their middle name to their surname prior to marriage.
